What do you do on a rainy Sunday? Play with Pastels of course… don’t you?
After what seems like endless weeks of rain another wet Sunday just seems so ho hum…but some smarty Artists left their homes, tangoed with the traffic and pulled up in Palmwoods where the Hall was transformed into an Autumn Art-land!
As with all the Seasonal Workshops held on the 1st Sunday of each Season…this was a raging success of a day!
Colours & shapes showcased by beautiful lighting, ambient music and happy chatter, produce from local harvest, fresh brewed coffee and natures perfumes greet each attendee and set the scene for a magical passage to love & learn.
These 1 Day Wonders cater for all the senses and benefit all that partake…a suitable environment open minds and creates a receptivity to absorbing and retaining information…it is here we start to shift our perception from Verbal to Visual…we start to speak the Visual Language!
Outside the Art world we practice a complex and extensive Verbal Language that uses only 26 letters in different arrangements and sequences. When we begin to read and write, we start by sounding each individual letter and at the same time learn to recognise their shapes. This familiarity helps us know and then read and write, it’s not just the shape of the letter but the placement of the angles and curves and their lines that help us differentiate one letter from another.
These skills, this knowledge we already possess gives us a a valuable advantage when translating information…
Drawing is the first step, the ABC, if you like, of learning to speak the Visual Language of Art.
When we combine desire & drawing, color & cheer what else could result but a happy, productive outcome? The nutritional value comes to us not only in the form of line and colour while playing with pastels, or hanging with creative spirits, or the magical music that fills the air, or even from the sumptous fare supplied by foodthatsings…it is the combination of all these elements that washes away the dust of everyday life…
